I can now properly thank you for the extraordinary experience you gave Tony and me as few weeks ago. To dine on exquisitely prepared food is always memorable but to be treated to food that is lovingly, artfully and impeccably prepared as a gift from the heart becomes an event to savour and cherish. You are truly a gifted chef with talent to spare but more importantly you are a wonderful person whom we have the pleasure of knowing and now call friend. It seems insufficient to merely say "thank you" for an
evening that was transformed from ordinary to one we are still talking about with fondness and gratitude.
We look forward to enjoying the fruits of your labors and your company soon and often.
With our gratitude and best regards

I just returned home after having a wonderful Sunday supper at the Spiced Pear -- not at all like the one my mother made. I had the braised berkshire pork with potato gratin. Would you be willing to share the recipes? I would love to try to replicate those wonderful dishes. Thank you for a marvelous meal.

My brother & sister-in-law treated me to dinner at the Spiced Pear this past Sunday evening. It was one of the finest dining experiences I've ever experienced. We had the scallops, pork tenderloin, and lobster. All perfectly paired with a great wine. Fabulous. I loved the spaghetti squash, and thinking I'd like to serve it at a family gathering, thought I'd be bold enough to ask you if you would share the recipe. (The waitress suggested I contact you, that you are often open to sharing your recipes.)
Thanks again for the wonderful meals. It was a great birthday treat for me.

My husband and I celebrated our one year wedding anniversary at The Spiced Pear on Sunday night. We had our rehearsal dinner on the terrace on October 9, 2008 so we were very excited to return to the restaurant. We had a lovely meal and a very special evening.
I especially fell in love with the honey roasted spaghetti winter squash with pumpkin seed oil and the mascarpone cheesecake. Can you share the recipes with me? We participated in the Stoneledge Farm CSA this summer – our last share pickup is November 16th, so I’ve experimented with all types of squash but nothing compares to your version on Sunday night, it was out of this world. I would love to recreate that and impress guests sometime.
Thanks so much. We look forward to visiting Newport again soon and dining at The Chanler.

When I called I told the Host that it was our 20th anniversary.
From the time we arrived until we drove off to our hotel Spiced Pear was a fabulous experience. We were seated at a table with a great view of the Atlantic Ocean. The person who seated us wished us a happy anniversary as did all of the wait-staff who served our table.
We started with Chef's kicked up salads... however they shouldn't be called "salad" as they were very inventive, satisfying and each had its own tasty nuisances and homemade dressing.
My wife's sea scallops were as fresh as if they were just harvested from the water outside our window and my lamb was just perfect. Each entrée also came with excellent sides and creative seasonings. You can tell the chef is someone who not only is very accomplished in the kitchen but also enjoys good food himself. This was definitely food created by someone who likes to eat and to also have the satisfaction of sharing great food and culinary skills with others (can't tell you how many times we've been to restaurants where the chef might as well have been in the mail-room in a no-name company based on their lack of epicurean passion).
While the food & service was impeccable all evening (a big thanks to Amanda, Jason and their team!) the topper came with our dessert. On the plate in chocolate "Happy Anniversary" was inscribed along with tiny little choco-flowers.
We were completely blown away and we would highly recommend Spiced Pear for anyone looking for a memorable meal in Newport.
